Insight

Pappelina, part of Embellence Group’s portfolio, came to us after a thorough vetting process aimed at finding the right long-term Shopify partner. Like many enterprise-level retailers, they were stuck in a rigid, legacy tech stack—built around NopCommerce and tightly coupled with SAP for ERP, order management, and product information. The complexity of their existing setup had become a bottleneck for growth, agility, and scalability. Pappelina had a clear goal: migrate to Shopify Plus, consolidate operations, and shift from a tech-first to a commerce-first mindset—unlocking the full potential of the Shopify ecosystem.

Idea

We kicked off the engagement with a detailed procurement and specification phase, mapping out all business-critical data points—from product catalogs and pricing logic to international redirects and customer group structures. This became the blueprint for a seamless migration from NopCommerce to Shopify Plus. Using robust API integrations, we migrated multilingual URLs, converted legacy data fields into Shopify metafields and metaobjects, and transferred price lists, B2B customer profiles, companies, locations, and collections—ensuring a smooth and lossless transition.

At the same time, we replaced custom-coded integrations with a scalable setup using Junipeer as the middleware between Shopify and SAP. In parallel, we developed a new storefront using a Shopify Plus-exclusive theme, leveraging native apps and minimal custom code. The build was designed to support both DTC and B2B operations, complete with net payment terms, market-based pricing, and ERP-integrated customer segmentation.

Impact

The result is a fast, accessible, and scalable Shopify Plus storefront with a significantly lower total cost of ownership. Pappelina now runs a fully integrated DTC and B2B experience, optimized for cross-border commerce and built for growth. The site meets WCAG accessibility standards, complies with GDPR and Consent Mode V2, and delivers top-tier performance in Google PageSpeed Insights.

With full server-side tracking in place and real-time reporting via GA4 and Looker Studio, the team has complete visibility over performance and customer behavior. What was once a rigid, complex setup is now a flexible, future-proof platform—allowing Pappelina to focus on what truly matters: growing their brand and driving sales.
